Shere Parish Council complies with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) law which comes into effect on 25 May 2018 and supersedes the Data Protection Act 1998. We are committed to keeping your personal information accurate and up to date. We will not keep your information longer than necessary. This page informs you of our policies regarding the collection, use and disclosure of Personal Information we receive from users of the Site.

We use your Personal Information only for providing and improving the Site. By using the Site, you consent and agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy.

Information Collection and Use
While using our Site, we may ask you to provide us with certain personally identifiable information that can be used to contact or identify you. Personally, identifiable information may include, but is not limited to your name (“Personal Information”). We may also run surveys from time-to-time, using third party websites such as Survey Monkey. We strive to anonymise the data we collect, and only use it for the improvement of the services we offer.

Log Data
Like many site operators, we collect information that your browser sends whenever you visit our Site (“Log Data”).

This Log Data may include information such as your computer’s Internet Protocol (“IP”) address, browser type, browser version, and the pages of our Site that you visit, the time and date of your visit, the time spent on those pages and other statistics.

In addition, we may use third party services such as Google Analytics that collect, monitor and analyse this data. This data is completely anonymised and does not include personal information such as name or email address.

How long will we keep your data?
We hold the data securely in line with our document retention and management procedure. We keep all data for as long as a) the project it’s collected for is in operation b) on an ongoing basis but normally deleted after 10 years if our association with you is not active.

Communications
We may use your Personal Information to contact you with newsletters, should you opt into receive them.

Security
The security of your Personal Information is important to us but remember that no method of transmission over the Internet, or method of electronic storage, is 100% secure. While we strive to use commercially acceptable means to protect your Personal Information, we cannot guarantee its absolute security.

Changes to this Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy is effective as of May 2018 and will remain in effect except with respect to any changes in its provisions in the future, which will be in effect immediately after being posted on this page.

We reserve the right to update or change our Privacy Policy at any time and you should check this Privacy Policy periodically. Your continued use of the Service after we post any modifications to the Privacy Policy on this page will constitute your acknowledgement of the modifications and your consent to abide and be bound by the modified Privacy Policy.

Cookies

We use cookies to collect anonymous visitor statistics via Google Analytics to help us improve our site. By using our website, you agree that we can place these cookies on your computer. What are these cookies called, and what do they do? 

_utma  tracks the number of times a visitor has been to the site, when their first visit was, and when their last visit occurred. It expires after 2 years.

_utmb  and  _utmc  track how long a particular visit takes.   _utmb  expires after 30 minutes, _utmc  expires once you close your browser.

_utmz  tracks which site or search engine the visitor came from, the link clicked or keyword used, and the visitor’s geographic location. It expires after 6 months.

These four cookies are placed by  Google Analytics and help us understand how visitors interact with our website. We also use session variables on our customer sites to store the contents of  shopping baskets, but these expire after 20 minutes.
